Teaching in UAE

Education has always been the primary focus for governments of developing as well as the developed nations. It is one of the most important investments a country can make in its people; like every other nation, UAE also lays significant emphasis on schools and educators for its future education planning and development.

80-85% of the population in UAE consists of expats. With large numbers of new schools becoming operational in UAE to cater to the needs of all these different nationalities, there is an immense demand for international educators for all these schools. A recent study by Deloitte revealed that UAE needs to hire around 57,000 educators by 2015 to fill the current manpower gap in education sector. To meet their requirements of experienced and qualified teachers, schools are trying to attract and recruit the best of educators from around the world. In a bid to retain such qualified staff, schools also invest in their professional development and training.

UAE government’s education reforms seek improvement in the quality of schooling and support the interests of students and parents. Regular workshops and education fairs are organized to disseminate, information, research findings, and latest trends in this field. Local and regional schools actively participate in these fairs to keep themselves abreast with the latest technology and teaching methodologies in the field of education. This also assists the school in improving the overall ratings during inspections. The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) and the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) do regular school inspections in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively. The results are made public and attempts to provide information and feedback to the parents, so that they can make informed choices for their children.
