UW-Superior’s campus is set in a quiet neighborhood in Superior, Wisconsin, located on the shore of Lake Superior, the world’s largest lake. Superior is connected to Duluth, Minnesota by bridge and together they comprise a dynamic mid-sized metro area with a population of 240,000. The area is a popular tourist destination that offers many cultural opportunities and amenities just minutes away from the surrounding lakes, forests and outdoor activities.

Student Life

International students report that a safe, friendly campus makes for a great learning environment. International students are an important part of the campus community and have opportunities to make new friends from around the U.S. and around the world. Most new students live in one of the five university residence halls and enjoy the activities offered at the newly-constructed student center, the Yellowjacket Union, and the recreational opportunities at the state-of-the-art Health and Wellness Center (HWC). Students can also take advantage of the Superior Outdoor Adventure Program (SOAP), and the many UW-Superior student organizations.

Financial Assistance for International Students

UW-Superior offers significant financial assistance to international students through the Non-resident Tuition Waiver (NTW) program, which aims to enhance campus diversity. In recent years, more than 90% of admitted international students have received the NTW Awards of $5500 per year. NTW Scholar Awards, which are worth an additional $2000 per year, are awarded based on academic merit and campus diversity. For the 2010-11 academic year, international students who receive an NTW grant pay between $7600 to $9600 for tuition and fees.
