Many of our programs ladder into one another, allowing you to keep your options open by earning a one-year certificate and/or a two-year diploma on the way to completing a full degree. Others offer a co-operative education option, where you can combine study with supervised, professional, paid, work experience.
We have an international office fully dedicated to assisting you with a broad range of activities, including admission, advising, registration, orientation, and student life. When you arrive, student leaders are available to welcome you and help you adjust to life at university. It’s easy to join other students for day trips, backpacking, skating, curling, skiing, or simply socializing over a special dinner.
In addition, many clubs and associations provide you with opportunities to get involved in campus life and our award-winning Cascades athletics teams are highly competitive. You can also volunteer in the community to gain experience and create relationships.
With small class sizes, hands-on learning, and a vibrant community, UFV provides the quality learning experience you need to open the door to your dream career. And when you graduate, you can obtain a Post-Graduation Work Permit to work in Canada for up to three years, and gain valuable work experience. Or you can decide to pursue further education: UFV is part of a province-wide system linking all post-secondary institutions, which means it’s easy to transfer to other universities.
UFV is recognized nationally for student success, an excellent learning environment, creative integration of programming, and our work with local communities. In fact, in the 2010 Globe and Mail Canadian University Report, UFV earned the most As and A+s of any public university in British Columbia.
Using the results of this extensive survey, the Globe and Mail has designed a Campus Navigator tool that you can use to compare Canadian universities, both big and small, for class size, quality of teaching, and more. UFV was at the top of the list in the small universities category, earning an A grade in the following areas: most satisfied students, quality of education, and teaching.
