My child is in the 10th now. She is brilliant in her studies and fetches good grades without any tuition or external assistance. She grasps the concept well and takes extra effort to comprehend the idea thoroughly.

But as a concerned mother I believe it’s not just books, and school , She needs to have time enough to mingle with family friends , enjoy and relax. Also I had seen how much tormenting are the plus one and plus 2 stages.

The system and the schools take a toll on these children’s health not to say about their mental and emotional health. I would like to know whether there are any equivalent courses for plus one and 2, even if it is not of Indian curriculum.

The Indian CBSE system is renowned for its rigor and emphasis on academia. I am very happy to read that as a parent you have recognized the need for well rounded education rather than focus only on academics. Before you think of moving away from the Indian system it is important to think about where your daughter will do her undergraduate studies and what subject she will pursue. If you are planning to go back to India I would continue with the CBSE and if required have her do extracurricular activities outside the school.

Should you plan to send her to US/UK/Canada, etc. then it may be worth exploring another curriculum. My personal preference would be for the IB which though equally rigorous in academia has three additional components which sets it apart from other curriculum – the extended essay, theory of knowledge and CAS activities. However you need to consider other factors like daughter’s preference, the tension and trauma created by a move at this late stage, availability of place in an IB school, cost of education etc.
