The Wales International Study Centre is a unique facility created especially for international students to prepare them for higher education.

Wales International Study Centre offers a range of courses designed to equip international students with the skills and confidence needed for undergraduate and postgraduate study.

The ISC is based in a superb, modern facility on the campus of the University of Wales, Newport. The Caerleon campus is a truly beautiful and secure location. ISC students live in on-campus accommodation and are fully integrated in to university life with full use of university facilities.

On successful completion of the International Foundation Year students can progress directly on to a degree at one of our 1 partner universities in England and Wales.

The Wales International Study Centre offers a range of both undergraduate (Bachelors) and postgraduate (Masters) preparation courses. These are specifically designed for international students who require additional academic or linguistic education to meet UK University entry requirements.

Unlike most other UK programmes, WISC is able to offer its students the choice of up to 11 UK Universities! (Depending on the course selected). Students are asked to nominate their preferred University during their study year and on successful completion of their course they may progress to their chosen University.

  • International Foundation Year: A year of intensive academic and English language training to introduce international students to the British academic system and prepare them for degree level study. Students can choose from two academic routes depending on their chosen degree:
    • Business Law and Social Studies
    • Engineering and Science
  • International Year One: The International Year One is a specialist programme for international students, equivalent to the first year of a degree. It is designed for students who are over qualified for the International Foundation Year but need some additional preparation for a degree.

  • Pre-Masters Programme: A two-term programme, designed specifically to prepare international students for postgraduate study in Wales. The Pre-Masters provides direct pathways to a selection of postgraduate degrees at six universities in Wales.
