TRAVELLING TO SHARJAH

Air Arabia, the national low cost airline established in 2003, has Sharjah International Airport as its home. Air Arabia is Middle East’s largest low cost carrier with around 40 aircrafts travelling to 70 different destinations. GCC citizens don’t require a visa to enter the country, however, all other nationalities require a visit, a transit, residency or a tourism visa that can be obtained or directed through embassies, Air Arabia, tourism agencies, or hotel bookings.

LIVING IN SHARJAH

The Sharjah Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) started the public transport system in Sharjah in 2008. Now they operate more than 200 buses within the city to Sharjah and to the rest of the emirates in the country. The buses are clean, air conditioned and cheap. Taxis are abundant in the city with reasonably priced fares; they are usually stopped down the road, but can also be booked by phone. Sharjah faces a problem of traffic amongst its streets;

WORKING IN SHARJAH

Sharjah’s education system has reached new altitudes and has received international approval for its quality of education. The education field is highly recognized and acknowledged. The field has a mixture of cultures amongst teachers and students; but has typically more Arab nationalities than any schools in other emirates. This diverse mix of culture leads to healthy competition and encourages more hard work. There’s a wide range of curriculums available including American, British, Arabic, and Indian. The basic qualification level for teaching in Sharjah set by the Ministry of Education is a bachelor’s degree in related teaching field and any kind of Diploma or Certificate in education.

FUN IN SHARJAH

Sharjah is one of the very few cities in the region that has shown complete devotion to original culture, art, history and design. Sharjah is now known as UNESCO’s Cultural Capital of the Arab World. Sharjah is home to 17 museums, and exhibitions that run every once in a while around the themes of art and culture. The Sharjah Art Foundation is solely devoted to planning and executing exhibitions, performances, and screenings. Cultural programs organized by the Foundation are comparable to those by well established art centers in other developed countries. It was also named as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2013. Sharjah is the only emirate in the UAE where alcohol is legally banned and a proper dress code is always mandated in public places, streets, workplaces, or even universities. Hotels, malls, and restaurants are usual hangouts for people during the weekends.
